img_4867-1

If I could eat a sheet mask, I would eat this one. I mean, look at the packaging. This mask wins gold medals in that regard. This mask is photogenic, gimmicky, beautiful…I could go on and on.Ā

Did I fall for the packaging? Yes. Did I fall for the gimmick? Yes. Did I buy a box of these masks? Yes. Do I regret it? Read on to find out!

Milk Makeup Face Mask Sticks

img_7580

If you’ve read my review on Sephora’s mask sticks, you know I love facial masks in all forms. Lately, I can’t be bothered to use anything other than sheet masks or mask sticks (try saying that five times, I dare you).

Enter Milk Makeup’s Mask Sticks. This review is for all three of MM’s masks. The Watermelon Brightening Mask, Green Tea Detoxifying Mask and Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Mask.

The Specifics:

Condition of my skin:Ā I’ve tried all three masks when my skin was under multiple conditions. Yes, even when my skin was breaking out.

How do I use this product?Ā After cleansing, I apply the mask on dry skin by rolling it all over my face and neck. If you want a thicker and more opaque layer, go over your face a few more times. Wait ten minutes then wash off and ooh and awe at how great your face looks (you’re gorgeous, dear reader!)

Brand:Ā Milk Makeup (MM)

Claims:Ā

The Watermelon mask is meant to hydrate, tone, and brighten your skin.

The Green tea mask detoxifies, balances, and calms any redness.

The Cannabis Sativa mask moisturizes, calms and cleanses the skin.

Ingredients:Ā Found here.

Affordability:Ā The masks retail for $32.00 (CDN) for 1oz/30g. They are more expensive than Sephora’s masks but these are more effective. I’ve used these masks multiple times and I’m not even halfway through them yet! Compared to other masks offered at Sephora, these are more affordable and they may seem like a gimmick (I mean, they are) but they really work and do what they claim. I do think they are affordable.

Smell:Ā All of the masks are unscented which I like since fragrances irritate my skin. The Cannabis mask has a natural, green and earthy scent but it doesn’t irritate my skin.

Texture:Ā The texture of the mask has a dry, clay texture. When rolled on the face, it sinks into the skin in an even layer. This is drier and less emollient than Sephora’s masks but they don’t tug the skin.

img_6546

The texture of MM’s mask is more dense and noticeable when compared to Sephora’s mask.Ā

How does it leave my face?:Ā

Each mask effectively met its claims. I found the Cannabis mask to be very hydrating and calming, especially when my skin was fatigued, red, and irritated.

The Watermelon mask nourished and brightened my skin, while also hydrating it.

The Green Tea mask cleansed, calmed, and toned my skin but unlike Sephora’s Bamboo mask (meant to do the same thing), this mask didn’t dry out my skin.

How does my face feel afterward?Ā All of the masks hydrated my skin without leaving a film behind. My face felt clean but not painfully dry or squeaky clean.

How are the results?:Ā Yay! Finally, masks that do what they’re supposed to! I don’t want to be redundant but each mask really did deliver fantastic results. They all hydrated and balanced my skin yet, each mask met its specific claims.

Love or hate?Ā LOVE!

Repurchase:Ā Yes, I’m already planning on repurchasing the masks when there is a sale at Sephora.

Recommend:Ā If you are looking for effective masks that deliver and work, these are for you. If you are looking for masks that are travel-friendly, portable, and aren’t messy like usual clay masks, these masks are also for you. Overall, you can’t go wrong with MM’s masks. If you get a chance, I really hope you try one (or all) masks offered by MM.

Final thoughts:Ā I admit,Ā I bought these on a whim. I love MM as a brand and everything I have tried from them, I’ve loved. These masks are no different. I wasn’t expecting to be wowed by them, nor was I expecting such fantastic results. Yet, as usual, MM delivered and surpassed my expectations. At this point, I don’t even doubt them anymore.

Rating:Ā Ā 5/5

-Are travel-friendly

-Effective

-No added fragrance

-Are cleaner to use than regular clay masks

-Not as emollient as Sephora’s stick masks

-There is a mask for specific concerns

-The Cannabis Sativa mask has a medium-strength, herbaceous, natural scent.

Thank you for checking out my review!

Sephora Collection Mask Sticks Review

img_6510

I love face masks of all varieties–wash-off masks, sheet masks, five-minute masks. I love them all. They’re luxurious and if you’re lucky to find ones that work, the results are tremendous.Ā

Mask sticks have become a new favourite of mine. They’re clay-based, wash-off masks in stick form. Why do I love them so much? They’re easy to use, they’re not messy and they areĀ notĀ gloopy. They’re simple, minimalistic and fantastic for lazy people like me.Ā

Now, don’t quote me on this but I think Milk Makeup was one of the first brands to release mask sticks and yes, I have all of them. Sephora has now jumped onto the craze and released four (yes,Ā four)Ā mask sticks. I’ve tried them all and here are my thoughts!

KAJA Cushy Vibe High-Pigment Lip Stain Swatches and Review

tempimageforsave-33

My enduring love for KAJA continues! These lip stains were the gateway products into KAJA for me. I bought them a few months after they were released, tried them out and reach for them quite often.

If you are looking for a matte, buildable and incredibly long-lasting lip stain, you have to try these out. They’re so pigmented and long-lasting that I don’t use them when I have to work that evening or the next morning because the stain remains. It will pull a Rick Astley on you and never desert you. Cheesy but I had to say it.

The shade range is pretty solid, the colours go from nudes to bolds so you can definitely find a shade that suits you and your needs. That being said, I do wish KAJA would increase their shades; I would love to see darker reds, blood reds, pinks and oranges. Please, KAJA, can you do this for me? Please? Love, your enduring fan.

Onto the review!

NYX Candy Slick Glowy Lip Color in Sweet Stash Swatches + Review

img_3926

Let’s just get this out of the way. I was in love with this shade the moment I swatched it, the idea of a glossy, glass-like lip made me want it even more. But the moment I brought it home, I hated it. If only NYX had Sephora’s return policy, then I could leave this bad memory behind me but unfortunately, I’m stuck with it forever. And no, I’m not going to throw out the product just because I hate it. I don’t know why but I just can’t do that.

Huda Beauty Gemstone Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

I received this palette as a gift fromĀ Sephora! To be honest, I usually wear neutrals (shimmer or matte), or if I’m feeling particularly artsy, I throw in some bright matte colours but even then, I stick to pinks and oranges. IĀ rarely use metallic eyeshadows and even more rarely, glittery shadows. I’m just not into a bright or a bold eye look; I tend to focus more on lips than eyes.Ā Like a hypocrite though, I have so many metallic and glittery eyeshadow palettes (I even have three of Huda Beauty’s Gemstone palettes but theyĀ are more of a hit or miss, some shades perform well and others are chalky and/or disappointing) but I never use them, I’m just a hoarder.

Side Note: If you ever get a chance to try HB’s New Nude Eyeshadow Palette, IĀ highly recommend that palette. It is easily one of the best performing palettes I’ve used (aside from Viseart’s Dark Mattes and Paris Nude palettes).

Two Year Anniversary Gift From Sephora Beauty Insider Community

I was notified I had a package waiting to be picked up and I was so confused because I didn’t remember placing an order (you know you have a Sephora addiction when you can’t even remember what you’ve ordered).

Consider me utterly shocked and happy when I opened the box and found this surprise waiting for me. This is the first time I’ve ever received any type of gift from Sephora. So thank you, Sephora, for making my crappy weekend into a good one!

Bite Beauty Outburst Longwear Lip Stain Review

It seems lip stains and tints are all the rage right now and I couldnā€™t be happier. I love all of these smudged, sheer but bright lip looks and I adore seeing how creative others are with it too.

Gone are the days when matte liquid lipsticks were the latest trend (and I ended up with more than fifty different colours from different brands and never got around to wearing them all?) though I still refuse to accept theyā€™re on the outs now. Has anyone tried making a diffused/blotted lip look with liquid lipsticks? I think it should work but for some reason, I struggle so hard with lip makeup; I was never good at colouring within the lines growing up, so thereā€™s that.

Bite Beauty is the brand for lipsticks, the one brand youā€™ll only ever need. Trust me, their lipsticks are amazing, pigmented and comfortable; if you try one, youā€™ll feel this overpowering need to collect them all. And if youā€™re like me and you felt that need, wait until the holidays because BB usually comes out with a vault of their whole Amuse Bouche line and thatā€™s how you smart shop.

I donā€™t wear lipsticks too often, Iā€™m too paranoid about them smudging or getting on my teeth to feel confident wearing them. But with BB, I really forget Iā€™m wearing a bold lip and they donā€™t bleed or smudge. But still, whatā€™s worse than having lipstick on your teeth? Or, dear god, you accidentally smudge the lipstick on your face!

So imagine my excitement when BB released their trio of lip stains. Needless to say, I bought all three instantly, even the bright fuchsia pink. Yes, bright, almost neon pink! How crazy is that? It just shows you how loyal I am to BB and their lipstick quality.

Anyway, onto the review! Continue reading “Bite Beauty Outburst Longwear Lip Stain Review”
