Products I’m currently using: Kiehl’s Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Herbal Concentrate Facial Oil

A year or two ago, Cannabis Sativa seed oil/cannabis oil was all the rage in skincare. Known for being an anti-inflammatory and filled with antioxidants, it’s a good choice when looking for a skincare product that can help blemishes and reduce redness.

During Christmas, I was lucky enough to snag this oil, along with its cleanser counterpart in a kit that was for sale. I had been eyeing it for some time but finally bit the bullet and purchased it.

I’ve been using this facial oil when I have blemishes or my skin is sensitized and inflamed from actives or hormonal disruptions. I can’t speak for the reduction in redness claim as I don’t have a ton of redness on my face.

Kiehl’s claims that this oil also helps improve one’s skin barrier, calming and soothing the skin. Alongside the cannabis seed oil (that is hemp-derived), there is oregano oil, which fights blemishes and problem skin. The oil smells of musty oregano oil but once applied to the face, it fades away, and the facial oil melts wonderfully into the skin.

I enjoy using this non-comedogenic facial oil, and I can’t wait to see the long-term benefits the more I use the product.

Things I’m loving:

I got to see Rupi Kaur when she came to Edmonton for a poetry reading. Besides being gorgeous (I still think about that coppery rose gold dress she wore!), she was utterly inspiring and her poetry broke my heart and mended it back together. I highly recommend you check out her works, if you haven’t already.

Secretly, between you and me, when people ask me what I dream about, it’s publishing my poetry. Seeing her in person was so inspiring and empowering and I really was propelled forward to work towards my goal.

If you ever get the chance to see her, or any other poet in person, I hope you do. It’s inspiring and beautiful to hear their works come alive.

Much love xoxo,

Annie

My stash of Kaja beauty.

love Kaja Beauty products. I first bought the Mochi Glow highlighter and one Cushy Vibe lip stain when they first launched. I knew I had to buy more so during the Rouge sale at Sephora, I bought more products. Reviews are coming but I just had to gush and tell you how much I love their products.

p.s Yes, all of these products have been used but I like to keep my favourite products in their original boxes.

Do you do this or do you throw out their outer packaging? Have any of you tried Kaja’s products?

Note: I am not affiliated with the brand, this post isn’t sponsored or an advertisement. I really just love Kaja’s products and brand aesthetics.

Things I’m Loving: Glico Caplico Stick Ice Cream Snacks

A dangerously addictive combination of cute and tasty.
((What I’m not loving it the name. Dear Snack Gods, what a terrible name! (And reader, don’t even try to say that more than once. You might hurt yourself)).

Having found this in the snack aisle (which I think you and I both know is my favourite aisle) at my local store, I snagged a box because of a few reasons, 1) just look at that box and tell me you wouldn’t pounce, 2) they were on sale, 3) Glico is a trusted brand in my book, having tried more than I should of their snacks and loving each and all of them. Now, if you’re still not sold, reader, you may need to check your head because I’m pretty sure these will be the cutest and one of the best chocolate wafer snacks you’ll ever have. Mini Perfume Sample Haul

For the better part of last month, I spent days and days obsessing about perfume. I read reviews, I joined forums, I scoured online for everything and anything on perfumes. Why? I’ve always loved the idea of perfume and honestly, smells are a pretty big deal for me. I know some people say the first thing they’re attracted to is teeth or hair, but for me, it smells. (What about you, reader?)

After compiling an obscenely long list of perfumes I’d like to try, I stumbled across a few websites where you can buy samples from them. Because let’s face it, going to the mall to perfume counters with pushy sales associates isn’t really how I like to spend my time. And I don’t even want to imagine their face if I handed over my list to them.  After buying a few dollars worth (I say ‘few’ sarcastically), I got my first order in the mail.  Continue reading “Mini Perfume Sample Haul”

The Master’s Sun Episode 1 & 2 Thoughts

The Hong Sister’s The Master’s Sun (주군의 태양) with So Ji-Sub and Kong Hyo-Jin

Lately in K-drama land, it’s been Gumihos, revenge, melodramas, and Sageuk dramas. Now, I like a punch to the heart every so often but I’m choosy with my melodramas and I’m very choosy about my Gumihos. Mostly, I’m just not interested in how many tails you have, Ms. Fox. Or why you’re after revenge, which most likely will cost you your life at the end, Mr. Revenge. What I am interested in is horror…and romance…oh hell, throw in comedy and we’re call it a party.

So when I heard the Hong Sisters (The Greatest Love, You’re Beautiful, My Girlfriend is a Gumiho) had a new drama involving all three, of course I was excited. I’ve (for better and for worse) been a fan of the sisters for quite a while. It was around this time last year, when Gong Yoo was making his drama comeback in a drama penned by the sisters, that I was more than a little ecstatic. Okay, I was near hyperventilation excited and when I saw promos with him, I nearly fell off the bed. But then I found out that it involved some body-swapping and I tapped out. I don’t do body-swapping. At.all. To the point that if there’s anything related to body-swapping shenanigans, I will not even talk about the drama or acknowledge its existence. And my love for Gong-Yoo is strong and has been going strong for a few years but nothing compares to my intense dislike and disinterest that borders on table-flipping anger when body-swapping is involved.

But because of my (damn) love for Gong Yoo and the sisters, I kept an eye on the drama from afar and wasn’t surprised when the shenanigans turned into a party that in real life would be the one you throw that no one comes to, except your family (out of pity) and that one crazy relative of yours (yes, you know the one I’m talking about) starts dancing and tries to rope you into their descent into madness. No thanks, Uncle Cray-cray. I’m already a single, mid-twenties loner with no prospects, I have enough black marks against me to go Gangnam Style on the family gathering and ruin whatever threads of my image I’m hanging onto.

But I digress (as usual). That drama, which I will not name, kind of threw me for a loop. I was so excited for that drama that when I found out how big (haha, you see what I did there?…okay, sorry) of a catastrophe it was, it made me feel like I should never be excited for Christmas ever again. Melodramatic, me?
